Headlamp Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 299503  Size: SH
  1. Remove the 2 bolts (3) at the inboard edge of the headlamp (2).
  2. Position the headlamp outboard in order to disengage the pins (1) at the rear of the headlamp (2).
  3. Remove the electrical connectors from the headlamp (2).
  4. Remove the bulbs from the headlamp (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bulb to the headlamp (2).
  2. Install the electrical connectors.
  3. Position the headlamp inboard in order to engage the pins at the rear of the headlamp (2).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the 2 bolts (3) to the inboard edge of the headlamp (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (3) to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  7. If you are installing a new headlamp (2), remove the horizontal aim adjuster restrictor from the headlamp (2). Discard the horizontal aim adjuster restrictor.
  8. Inspect the headlamp aim. Refer to Headlamp Aiming .

Headlamp Replacement Regency

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 299611  Size: MH
  1. Remove the screws that retain the outer edge of the grille above the headlamp (2).
  2. Remove the thumb screws (1) that retain the headlamp (2).
  3. Pull the headlamp (2) up and out of the retaining slots.
  4. Pull the inboard end of the headlamp (2) halfway out through the grille.
  5. Slide the headlamp (2) inboard.
  6. Pull the outboard end of the headlamp (2) out of the grille.
  7. Remove the electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the headlamp (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the electrical connectors to the headlamp (2).
  2. Install the headlamp (2).
  3. Install the thumb screws (1) in order to retain the headlamp (2).
  4. Install the screws in order to retain the outer edge of the grille.

Headlamp Replacement 88/LSS

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.

  2. Object Number: 299671  Size: MH
  3. Remove the clips (2) that retain the headlamp (1).
  4. Remove the electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the headlamp (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 299671  Size: MH
  1. Install the electrical connectors to the headlamp (1).
  2. Install the headlamp (1).
  3. Install the headlamp retaining clips (2).
  4. Install the upper filler panel.

Headlamp Replacement Pontiac

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 299681  Size: MH
  1. Remove the bolts (3) that retain the inboard edge of the headlamp (1).
  2. Push the fascia downward.
  3. Pull the headlamp (1) slightly forward at the side marker.
  4. Slide the headlamp outboard in order to disengage the locating pins (2, 4).
  5. Remove the headlamp (1).
  6. Remove the electrical connectors.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the electrical connectors to the headlamp (1).
  2. Install the headlamp (1).
  3. Slide the headlamp (1) inboard in order to engage the locating pins (2, 4).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.
