Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Shift the gear selector lever to the PARK position.

Are the backup lamps OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the park/neutral position switch.

Do the backup lamps turn off?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Repair a short to battery positive voltage in the backup lamps supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 6

Adjust or replace the park/neutral position switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment and Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle-4T65-E.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

Systems OK
