Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Recommendations in this section.

Always use the proper quantity of the following fluids:

   •

  • .47 L (16 oz) of GM P/N 1052884
  •    • 
  • .95 L (32 oz) of GM P/N 1050017
  • Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

    There is a power steering fluid level indicator attached to the power steering fluid reservoir cap. The marks on the power steering fluid level indicator, indicate the power steering fluid level.

    Power steering fluid that is warmed up has the following characteristics:

        • The fluid is hot to the touch. The temperature is approximately 66°C (150°F).
        • The fluid should be between the HOT and the COLD marks.

    Fluid that is cool has the following characteristics:

        • The temperature is approximately 21°C (70°F).
        • Ensure the power steering fluid level is between the ADD and the COLD marks.
