RADIO LOSES PRESET STATIONS OR SHOWS 'LOC' IN DISPLAY

SUBJECT: RADIO LOSES PRESET STATIONS OR SHOWS "LOC" IN DISPLAY (EXCHANGE RADIO FOR NEW UNIT)

MODELS: 1991-93 OLDSMOBILE EIGHTY-EIGHT 1991-93 OLDSMOBILE NINETY-EIGHT

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS:

1. THE RADIO LOSES (FORGETS) PRESET STATIONS, OR UNINTENTIONALLY TUNES TO 98.1 MHZ AFTER AN IGNITION CYCLE.

2.* RADIO DISPLAYS "LOC" IN THE GRAPHIC DISPLAY, REQUIRING A BATTERY TEST.

CAUSE:

FAULTY MICROPROCESSOR IN RADIO.

CORRECTION:

==========

REMOVE RADIO AND SEND TO AN AUTHORIZED DELCO SERVICE STATION FOR REPLACEMENT. THE REPLACEMENT UNIT WILL HAVE A NEW MICROPROCESSOR ELIMINATING THE ABOVE CONDITIONS. INCLUDE NOTE ON REPAIR TICKET: "REFERENCE DELCO ELECTRONIC BULLETIN RD93TBA05".

* NOTE THAT FOR CONDITION 2 ABOVE, THE BATTERY RESET IS ONLY A TEMPORARY SYMPTOMATIC FIX AND NOT A REPAIR.
