SUBJECT: SECTION 9H - DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) WARNING MSGS. AND CORRESPONDING INFORMATION CODES

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991-93 "C" MODELS AND 1992-93 "H" MODELS

Section 9H found in the 1991-93 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight service manual, and the 1992-93 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight service manual has been updated to include the DIC warning messages and corresponding information codes.

The enclosed text should amend the following pages replacing GM Corporate Bulletin 109002, and complete the DIC information content:

DIC INFORMATION CODES

ON CANADIAN/EXPORT VEHICLES, THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) DISPLAYS WARNING MESSAGES AND CORRESPONDING INFORMATION CODES; WHEN PROMPTED, THE DIC DISPLAYS THE WARNING MESSAGE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS, FOLLOWED BY A DISPLAY OF THE CORRESPONDING CODE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS. THESE CODES ARE FOR INFORMATION ONLY AND DO NOT CORRESPOND TO TECH 1 DIAGNOSTIC CODES. (THIS BULLETIN SHOULD REPLACE GM CORPORATE BULLETIN NO. 109002)

NOTE: WHEN CONNECTING A TECH 1, IT IS POSSIBLE TO SET A CODE 54 (ECM DATA LINK PROBE) IN THE DIC. IF THIS CODE IS PRESENT BEFORE THE TECH 1 IS CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, IT IS A VALID CODE. OTHERWISE, DISREGARD AND CLEAR THE FAULTY CODE.
