Removal Procedure

    Notice: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOLâ„¢ coolant. If coolant other than DEX-COOLâ„¢ is added to the system, the engine coolant will require change sooner: at 50 000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.

  1. Drain and recover the coolant from the cooling system.
  2. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  3. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the radiator surge tank.

  5. Remove the low coolant connector.

  6. Object Number: 631476  Size: SH
  7. Remove the radiator surge tank screw and the tank..

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Connect the surge tank to the vehicle.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  3. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator surge tank.

  4. Object Number: 631474  Size: SH
  5. Install the low coolant connector.
  6. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  7. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing .
