  1. Lubricate all the internal oil pump parts using engine oil during assembly.

  2. Object Number: 5278  Size: SH
  3. Install the oil pump gears.

  4. Object Number: 5277  Size: SH
  5. Install the oil pump cover.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the oil pump cover bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the pressure regulator valve.
  10. Install the pressure regulator spring.
  11. Install the cotter pin.
  12. Important: Make sure the cotter pin is properly secured.

  13. Apply sealer GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480) or the equivalent to the new suction pipe.
  14. Tap the new suction pipe into place using a plastic hammer. Use the J 21882 for 5/8 inch pipe or J 22144 for 3/4 inch pipe.
