  1. Reconnect all the previously disconnected components.
  2. Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position.
  3. Ensure that the engine remains OFF.

  4. Connect a Scan Tool into the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC).

Does the Scan Tool communicate with the body control module (BCM)?

Are you able to establish communication?

  1. Place the Scan Tool menu in Body Functions.
  2. Using the Scan Tool , read the BCM DTC(s).

Are there any current diagnostic trouble codes?

Go to the applicable DTC table

Go to Step 4

  1. Remove the Scan Tool from the DLC.
  2. Cycle the ignition from the OFF to the RUN position.

Did all of the indicators turn ON then OFF?

Go to Step 6

  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. Do any of the indicator(s) stay ON or FLASH for an extended period of time?

Are there any history DTCs?

  1. Refer to the appropriate DTC table for the history DTC.
  2. Read the diagnostic aids, and the Condition For Setting the DTC.

Did the history DTC set as a current DTC?
