Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 14133 Size: SH
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the fuel rail assembly (1) from the engine. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
  5. Remove the pressure regulator attaching screw (10).
  6. Remove the pressure regulator assembly (11) from the fuel rail.
  7. Twist back and forth while pulling apart.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 14133 Size: SH

Important: If fuel pressure regulator is to be re-installed, inspect filter screen (12) for contamination. If contaminated remove and discard filter screen.

  1. Lubricate new rail to regulator inlet fitting O-ring seal (13) with clean engine oil and install in regulator.
  2. Install the regulator assembly (11).
  3. Important: Whenever there is not enough thread-locking material on the threads of reusable hardware, apply Loctite® 262 to ensure proper locking.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the pressure regulator attaching screw (10).
  5. Tighten
Tighten the regulator attaching screw to 11.5 N·m (102 lb in).

  6. Install the fuel rail assembly (1). Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
