NEW DESIGN TRANSMISSION FLUID FILTER AND SEAL P/N

1987-88 MODELS WITH THM 200-4R (MW9)

VEHICLE APPLICATIONS:

1987 Cutlass Supreme 1987-88 Custom Cruiser Wagon 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic

This bulletin supersedes Dealer Technical Bulletin 88-T-03 which may be discarded.

BULLETIN COVERS: (Figure 1) --------------- Return to previous design filter for service and production. Due to filter production availability, production and service use of the new design filter will be put "on hold" for an indefinite time. The previous design filter will be used in production and service.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE:

Refer to Figure 2 to identify previous design filter and seals. Refer to Figure 3 to identify new design filter and seal.

June 15, 1987 (Julian Date 166), new filter and previous O-ring seals (2 required) in production for some 200-4R units.

August 28, 1987 (Julian Date 240), new filter and new seal in production for all 200-4R units.

November 25, 1987 (Julian Date 329), previous filter and new seal in production for all 200-4R units.

NOTICE: When servicing a 1987 or 1988 THM 200-4R, any one of three combinations of filter and seal(s) may be encountered.

SERVICE PARTS INFORMATION:

When replacing the filter on any past or current model THM 200-4R transmission, use the following package: 8639951 (includes previous filter, previous O-ring seals and pan gasket).
