J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 498498  Size: SH
  3. Use theJ 36346 in order to remove the push pin retainers that retain the rear bumper fascia to the rear wheelhouse extensions.

  4. Object Number: 797056  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt retaining the rear bumper fascia (3) at the wheelhouse opening.
  6. Disconnect the license lamp electrical connector.
  7. Remove the rear fog lamp bulb socket from the rear fog lamp, if equipped.
  8. Open the rear compartment.
  9. Remove the rear compartment sill trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  10. Fold back the rear compartment side trim panels.

  12. Remove the nuts retaining the rear bumper fascia studs (1) to the quarter panels.
  13. Remove the nuts retaining the fascia to the rear quarter panel.
  14. Remove the rear bumper fascia (3) and the energy absorber (2) from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the rear fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Rear Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting.
  16. Remove the energy absorber from the fascia. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Rear Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting.
  2. Install the energy absorber to the fascia. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 498497  Size: SH
  4. Align the bolts (1) in the rear bumper fascia to the body.
  5. Connect the license lamp electrical connector (2).

  6. Object Number: 797056  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the nuts to secure the rear bumper fascia to the rear end panel.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the nuts to secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the quarter panels.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  11. Reinstall the rear compartment side trim panels.
  12. Install the rear compartment sill trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  13. Close the rear compartment.

  14. Object Number: 498498  Size: SH
  15. Install the push pin retainers to secure the rear bumper fascia to the rear wheelhouse extensions.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
