Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Cover the sunload sensor assembly.
  2. Turn ON the courtesy lamps.
  3. Open and close the I/P compartment.
  4. Observe the I/P compartment lamp.

Does the I/P compartment lamp operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Open the I/P compartment door.
  2. Remove the I/P compartment bulb.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb and the glove box lamp control circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Reinstall the I/P compartment bulb.
  2. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp switch.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the glove box lamp control circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 13

Test the glove box lamp control circuit of the I/P compartment switch for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the I/P compartment lamp bulb connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the high resistance or open in the I/P compartment lamp switch ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the I/P compartment lamp bulb. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement .
