Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

Notice: Refer to Servicing and Replacing Seat Belts Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.

  2. Object Number: 693877  Size: SH
  3. Remove the seat belt tower rear trim cover by inserting a small rounded tool in the access hole in order to release the retainer.

  4. Object Number: 430307  Size: SH
  5. Remove the seat belt tower front trim cover fasteners (1).

  6. Object Number: 693880  Size: SH
  7. Remove the front seat back cover and pad enough to expose the shoulder belt retractor fastener (1). Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement in Seats.
  8. Remove the shoulder belt retractor fastener (1).
  9. Remove the shoulder belt retractor.
  10. Remove the seat adjuster track cover . Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement in Seats.

  11. Object Number: 693497  Size: SH
  12. Remove the lap retractor fastener (3).
  13. Remove the lap belt retractor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 693497  Size: SH
  1. Install the lap belt retractor over the stud. Align the tab on the retractor with the notch in the seat frame.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lap belt retractor fastener (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener (3) to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  5. Install the seat adjuster track cover. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Track Finish Cover Replacement in Seats.

  6. Object Number: 693880  Size: SH
  7. Install the shoulder belt retractor over the stud. Align the tab on the retractor with the notch in the seat back frame.
  8. Ensure the seat belt is not twisted.
  9. Install the shoulder retractor fastener (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  11. Install the seat back cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement in Seats.

  12. Object Number: 430307  Size: SH
  13. Install the seat belt tower front trim cover fastener (1).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  15. Install seat belt tower rear cover.
  16. Install the front seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
