J 36660-A Torque/Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transaxle assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T80-E.

  2. Object Number: 53487  Size: SH

    Important: Do not reuse the flywheel bolts.

  3. Remove the eight mounting bolts.
  4. Remove the flywheel and the reinforcement.
  5. Clean and inspect the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection in Engine Mechanical - 4.0 L Unit Repair.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 53487  Size: SH
  1. Position the flywheel and the reinforcement to the crankshaft.
  2. Apply sealant, GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent, to the flywheel mounting bolts.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the eight NEW mounting bolts.
  5. 3.1. First Pass

    Tighten
    Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    3.2. Final Pass

    Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts an additional 50 degrees using the J 36660-A .

  6. Install the transaxle assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T80-E.
