The cruise control module signals the PCM that the cruise control is engaged.

Cruise Inhibit Signal Command

The PCM monitors the parameters necessary for cruise control operation. If the vehicle falls out of any of the parameters necessary to maintain cruise control, or a scan tool commands the PCM to open the cruise control inhibit circuit, the cruise control will be disabled.
