Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 497534  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fasteners securing the primary knee bolster bracket to the instrument panel.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the primary knee bolster bracket to the steering column support.
  6. Remove the primary knee bolster bracket from the instrument panel.

  7. Object Number: 497532  Size: SH
  8. Remove the secondary knee bolster bracket to carrier fasteners.
  9. Remove the secondary knee bolster brackets from the carrier.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 497532  Size: SH
  1. Install the secondary knee bolster brackets to the carrier.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the secondary knee bolster bracket fasteners
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the primary knee bolster bracket.
  6. Install the primary knee bolster bracket fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  9. Install the left closeout insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
