Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 375350  Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  4. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  5. Remove the lower screws from the lower shroud.

  7. Remove the lower shroud.
  8. • Tilt the shroud down and slide back to disengage the locking tabs.
    • Remove the shroud protector.

  9. Remove the screws from the upper shroud.
  10. Remove the upper shroud.

  11. Object Number: 375210  Size: SH
  12. Remove the fasteners from the multi-function switch.
  13. Disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connections.
  14. Remove the multi-function switch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 375210  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the multi-function switch and the fasteners.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  3. Route the electrical harness and connect electrical connections.

  5. Install the upper shroud and install the fasteners.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  7. Install the lower shroud.
  8. • Ensure that the slots on the lower shroud engage with the tabs on the upper shroud.
    • Tilt the lower shroud up and snap the shrouds together.

  9. Install the 2 fasteners.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  11. Install steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  12. Install tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  13. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Pane, Gauges, and Console.
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
