Secondary Air Injection Control Valve Replacement - Bank 2 Dual Pump System

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the vacuum connections from the AIR check valve.
  2. Loosen and lower the pinch clamp holding the AIR exhaust hose to the front AIR check valve.
  3. Remove the nuts retaining the AIR check valve to the exhaust manifold pipe.
  4. Remove the front AIR check valve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the front AIR check valve.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nuts retaining the AIR check valve to the exhaust manifold pipe.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Reconnect the vacuum connections.
  6. Install the AIR exhaust hose and pinch clamp.

Secondary Air Injection Control Valve Replacement - Bank 2 Single Pump System

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the Air Cleaner Assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the vacuum lines.
  3. Loosen and lower the pinch clamp connecting the bank 2 intermediate pipe/hose to the bank 2 shut-off valve.
  4. Disconnect the hose from the shut-off valve.
  5. Remove the 2 nuts securing the bank 2 AIR shut-off to the bracket.
  6. Remove the bank 2 AIR shut-off valve from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bank 2 AIR shut-off valve and new gasket to the bank 2 outlet pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 2 nuts securing the shut-off valve to the bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the three nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the bank 2 intermediate pipe/hose and clamp to the shut-off valve.
  6. Install the vacuum lines.
  7. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
