Console Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the shifter trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  2. Remove the ashtray. Refer to Console Ashtray/Lighter Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 282998  Size: MH
  4. Remove the nuts (2) and the bolts (1).
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the console (5).
  6. Remove the console (5).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 282998  Size: MH
  1. Install the console (5) to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the console (5).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the console to IP carrier fasteners.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  6. Install the console to shifter bracket bracket fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the console to floor pan fasteners.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the ashtray. Refer to Console Ashtray/Lighter Replacement .
  11. Install the shifter trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .

Console Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 282997  Size: SH
  1. Remove the shifter trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  2. Remove the nuts (3) and the bolts (2).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the console (4).
  4. Remove the extension retaining hook.
  5. Remove the console (4).

  1. Install the console (4) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the extension retaining hook.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors (1) to the console (4).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   5. Install the console to IP fasteners.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Install the console to shifter bracket fasteners.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the console to floor pan fasteners.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  11. Install the shifter trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
