TRUNK MOUNTED 12 CD CHANGER EJECTS INTERMITTENTLY

SUBJECT: TRUNK MOUNTED 12 CD CHANGER EJECTS INTERMITTENTLY (ORDER NEW CD CHANGER)

MODELS: 1997-98 BUICK PARK AVENUE 1996-97 CADILLAC SEVILLE 1996-98 CADILLAC DEVILLE, ELDORADO 1995-98 OLDSMOBILE AURORA 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE 1997-98 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH TRUNK MOUNTED 12 CD CHANGER (US1)

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

- THE CD PLAYER WILL NOT CHANGE CD'S

- THE CD CARTRIDGE EJECTS PREMATURELY

- THE CD CARTRIDGE BINDS IN THE CHANGER

- THE CD CHANGER WILL NOT RELEASE THE CARTRIDGE

THESE CONDITIONS OFTEN OCCUR WHEN CLOSING THE TRUNK LID, OR ON ROUGH ROADS.

CAUSE:

THESE CONDITIONS MAY BE DUE TO THE ORIGINAL DELCO ELECTRONICS 12 CD CHANGER BEING SUSCEPTIBLE TO CARTRIDGE JAMMING UNDER HARSH MOVEMENT CONDITIONS. A PIONEER(R) CHANGER REPLACED THE DELCO ELECTRONICS UNIT IN PRODUCTION, APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY OF 1998.

THE ORIGINAL UNIT CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY THE "DELCO ELECTRONICS" MARKED ON THE UNIT. THE PIONEER(R) UNITS HAVE "12-DISC CD PLAYER" MARKED ON THE UNIT.

CORRECTION:

IF THE 12 CD CHANGER HAS ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS, ORDER A NEW PIONEER(R) UNIT FROM GMSPO (P/N 25678544) AND SCRAP THE ORIGINAL UNIT. FOR ALL OTHER CONDITIONS, THE ORIGINAL CHANGER SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE AC DELCO REPAIR STATION FOR REPAIRS.

ON THE W-CARS, THE TRUNK MOUNTED BRACKET WILL ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
