SMU - SECTION 8C - REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES

SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 8C - REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR MULTI-FUNCTION ALARM, LOCK AND LIGHTING MODULE (MALL), STARTER ENABLE RELAY AND LAMP CONTROL MODULE

MODELS: 1996 BUICK RIVIERA 1996 OLDSMOBILE AURORA

PLEASE INSERT THE FOLLOWING REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES AND ATTACHED ILLUSTRATION IN SECTION 8C OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.

(REFER TO ATTACHED ILLUSTRATION)

MULTI-FUNCTION ALARM, LOCK AND LIGHTING MODULE (MALL) =====================================================

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:

1. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR, (2) SCREWS, (1) LIGHT BULB.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

3. MALL MODULE FROM MULTI-USE BRACKET.

- PRESS DOWN ON CENTER TAB OF MOUNTING BRACKET AND SLIDE MALL MODULE DOWNWARD UNTIL MOUNTING RAILS DISENGAGE.

INSTALL OR CONNECT:

1. MALL MODULE TO MULTI-USE BRACKET.

- ALIGN MOUNTING RAILS ON MODULE WITH MOUNTING BRACKET RAILS. - SLIDE MODULE FORWARD INTO PLACE UNTIL LOCKING TAB ENGAGES.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

3. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR.

STARTER ENABLE RELAY ====================

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:

1. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR, (2) SCREWS, (1) LIGHT BULB.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

- SLIDE STARTER ENABLE RELAY FROM BRACKET.

INSTALL OR CONNECT:

1. SLIDE STARTER ENABLE RELAY ONTO BRACKET.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

3. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR.

LAMP CONTROL MODULE ===================

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:

1. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR, (2) SCREWS, (1) LIGHT BULB.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

3. LAMP CONTROL MODULE FROM MULTI-USE BRACKET.

- PRESS DOWN ON CENTER TAB OF MOUNTING BRACKET AND SLIDE MODULE DOWNWARD UNTIL MOUNTING RAILS DISENGAGE.

INSTALL OR CONNECT:

1. LAMP CONTROL MODULE TO MULTI-USE BRACKET.

- ALIGN MOUNTING RAILS ON MODULE WITH MOUNTING BRACKET RAILS.

- SLIDE MODULE FORWARD INTO PLACE UNTIL LOCKING TAB ENGAGES.

2. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).

3. LEFT LOWER I/P INSULATOR.
