Circuit Description

DTC C1275 will set if the EBCM receives a malfunction message from the PCM. The PCM sends this message to the EBCM because of a powertrain malfunction or a loss of class 2 communications from the EBCM to the PCM.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected by the PCM, the PCM causes ETS to shutdown until the malfunction is corrected.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

This DTC is an operational malfunction.

The following actions are taken when the DTC sets:

    • A malfunction DTC is stored
    • ETS is disabled
    • The TRAC OFF indicator is turned ON

The ABS remains functional.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

ETS will remain disabled until the EBCM receives a traction allowed message from the PCM. When the EBCM receives this message, it will re-enable the ETS and turn OFF the TRAC OFF indicator with the following drive cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

Check for PCM DTCs. If no PCM DTC is stored, DTC C1275 may have set due to a hot engine or a hot transaxle (both normal conditions). No repairs should be made to the Traction Control System.

Perform a thorough inspection of the wiring and the connectors.

Failure to carefully inspect wiring may result in a misdiagnosis. A misdiagnosis may result in replacing parts without repairing the malfunction.
