INFO. ON QUARTER PANEL WINDOW OPENING DESIGN CHANGE

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON QUARTER PANEL DESIGN CHANGE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "N" MODELS

APPLICATION:

----------- 1992 "N" Coupes and Pontiac and Buick Sedans

All coupes and Buick and Pontiac sedan quarter panels had a design change after production startup.

Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac coupe quarter panels were revised at the lower area of the quarter window opening beltline. Thus, the respective quarter window modules were revised to fit the new quarter panel surface. In addition, Oldsmobile coupe quarter panels were also revised by removing a portion of the rear window reveal moulding step at the lower corner of the quarter panel rear window opening.

Notice: New window modules will fit both new and old quarter panels. Changes to the quarter panel at the beltline will not allow the old window module to fit the revised quarter panel. For this reason, old window modules will only fit the old style quarter panels.

Pontiac and Buick sedan quarter panels were revised by removing a portion of the rear window reveal moulding step at the upper corner of the rear window.

Repair damaged quarter panels as follows:

2. Damage below the upper portion of quarter panel (mid sail):

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
