INCREASED MOVEMENT DRIVER 4-WAY SEAT -REPL.ADJUSTER

SUBJECT: INCREASED MOVEMENT OF DRIVER 4-WAY SEAT ADJUSTER (REPLACE SEAT ADJUSTER AND RELATED HARDWARE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "N" MODELS

CONDITION:

--------- Some owners of 1992 "N" cars equipped with a 4 way seat adjuster may comment on an undesirable rocking movement.

CAUSE:

----- Increased movement in the seat adjuster tilt mechanism and related hardware.

CORRECTION:

---------- 1. Remove driver seat from vehicle according to the procedure in Section 10-10 of the 1992 "N" Body Service Manual.

2. Remove front seat inner seat belt (11) from seat adjuster according to the procedure in Section 10-11 of the 1992 "N" Body Service Manual.

3. Remove seat adjuster from seat.

4. Remove rear reinforcement (3) from AM8 (bench seat) adjuster.

5. Remove spring assembly (5) and connecting rod (6).

6. Align new seat adjuster cover (2) P/N 16739569 to new seat adjuster:

Bucket seat (AR9) adjuster P/N 16734931

Bench Seat (AM8) adjuster P/N 16734937

and secure with new retainer (1) P/N 20225225.

7. Position seat adjuster to seat bottom panel.

8. ON BENCH SEAT ONLY, position rear reinforcement (3) to seat adjuster.

9. On both style seat adjusters, align holes in rear of seat adjuster to attaching holes in seat bottom panel and secure with screws (4).

10. Position tie bar (7) P/N 16730729 to seat adjuster assembly and install rear tie bar screws (8) P/N 11509699.

11. Install front tie bar screws (9) P/N 11509699.

12. Install spring assembly (5) and connecting rod (6) to new adjuster.

13. Move adjuster rearward and install screws (10) through attaching holes in front of seat adjuster.

14. Install front inner seat belt (11).

15. Install seat to vehicle.
