WRONG FLUID LEVEL INDICATOR READS OVER/UNDER FULL (INFO)

SUBJECT: INCORRECT FLUID LEVEL INDICATOR READS OVERFULL OR UNDERFULL

MODELS/YEARS: 1992 ACHIEVA W/2.3L (VIN 3, A) & 5 SPEED (M32, MV5) TRANSAXLE

Some ISUZU 5 speed manual transaxles (M32) or NVG-T550 5 speed manual transaxles (MV5) may show an extreme overfill or underfill condition on the fluid level indicator. The incorrect fluid level indicator may have been installed in the transaxle.

The ISUZU 5 speed manual transaxle should have a fluid level indicator with a WHITE handle. The NVG-T550 manual transaxle should have a fluid level indicator with a RED handle. Check for the proper color coded indicator before draining or adding fluid to correct an overfull or underfull condition.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
