Removal Procedure

    Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Install a suitable liftgate brace to the vehicle.
  3. Remove the liftgate window side garnish moulding. Refer to Liftgate Window Side Garnish Molding Replacement.
  4. Remove the liftgate window lower garnish moulding. Refer to Liftgate Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement.
  5. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement.

    6. Object Number: 2048606 Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the licence lamp/liftgate release electrical connector (2).
  7. Detach the liftgate centre applique to body grommet (1).

    8. Object Number: 2048607 Size: SH
  8. Remove the liftgate centre applique to liftgate body retaining nuts (1).
  9. Push the grommet (4) on the harness (2) through the grommet hole (3).

    10. Object Number: 2048608 Size: SH
  10. Carefully release the liftgate centre applique to liftgate body retaining clips tangs (1).

    11. Object Number: 2128128 Size: SH
  11. Pull the harness (2) through the grommet hole (3) on the liftgate.
  12. Remove the liftgate centre applique (1) from the liftgate.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2128128 Size: SH

    Important: Take care to feed the licence lamp/liftgate release connector through the grommet hole.

  1. Insert the harness (2) through the grommet hole (3) on the liftgate.
  2. Position the liftgate centre applique (1) to the liftgate.

  3. Carefully engage the liftgate centre applique to liftgate body retaining clips tangs (1).

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2048607 Size: SH
  4. Pull on the harness (2) to seat the grommet (4) in the grommet hole (3).
  5. Install the liftgate centre applique to liftgate body retaining nuts (1).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Attach the liftgate centre applique to body grommet (1).
  7. Connect the licence lamp/liftgate release electrical connector (2).
  8. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement.
  9. Install the liftgate window lower garnish moulding. Refer to Liftgate Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement.
  10. Install the liftgate window side garnish moulding. Refer to Liftgate Window Side Garnish Molding Replacement.

    11. Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  11. Remove the suitable liftgate brace to the vehicle.
  12. Close the liftgate.
