Removal Procedure

    Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Install a suitable liftgate brace to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 2049920 Size: SH

    Important: Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate strut that you are removing or attaching. DO NOT apply pressure to the middle of the strut because damage or bending will result.

  2. Using a suitable tool, release the liftgate strut to lower strut stud retaining clip (1).
  3. Detach the liftgate strut (3) from lower strut stud (2).

  4. Using a suitable tool, release the liftgate strut to upper strut stud retaining clip (1).
  5. Remove the liftgate strut (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2049919 Size: SH

    Important: Make sure that the liftgate strut to upper strut stud retaining clip (1) engages correctly securing the liftgate strut (2).

  1. Install the liftgate strut (2) onto the upper strut stud.

    2. Object Number: 2049920 Size: SH

    Important: Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate strut that you are removing or attaching. DO NOT apply pressure to the middle of the strut because damage or bending will result.

    Important: Make sure that the liftgate strut to lower strut stud retaining clip (1) engages correctly securing the liftgate strut (2).

  2. Attach the liftgate strut (3) to the lower strut stud (2).

    3. Important: When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  3. Remove the suitable liftgate brace from the vehicle.
