Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal - Left Side L98, LS2

  1. Remove the spark plug leads (1).

    2. Object Number: 1954185 Size: SH
  2. Remove the ignition coil assembly to valve rocker arm cover retaining studs (2).
  3. Remove the ignition coil assembly (1).

    4. Object Number: 1954186 Size: SH
  4. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover to cylinder head retaining bolts (1).
  5. Remove the valve rocker cover (2).

    6. Object Number: 1954187 Size: SH

    Important: The valve rocker arm cover gasket is a single use only component and must be replaced whenever the valve rocker arm cover is removed from the cylinder head.

  6. Remove the valve rocker arm cover gasket (1).

    7. Discard the valve rocker arm cover gasket (1).

  1. Remove the spark plug wires (724), as required.
  2. Remove the ignition coil bracket studs (720).
  3. Remove the ignition coil and bracket assembly (719).

    4. Object Number: 1402020 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the bolts (723), coils (722), and wire harness (721) from the bracket, as required.

    6. Object Number: 1559858 Size: SH
  6. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts (516) and cover (505).

    7. Object Number: 1272820 Size: SH
  7. Remove the gasket (504) from the cover.
