Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1957009 Size: SH
  2. Remove the gearshift lever boot to front console retaining screws (2).

    3. Object Number: 1955618 Size: SH
  3. Lift the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) enough to enable a firm grasp to be made on the gearshift lever (2) with the left hand, then grasp the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) with the right.
  4. While rocking the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) sideways, and with an upward force applied, dislodge the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) retaining claws from the gearshift lever (2).
  5. Remove the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) from the gearshift lever (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1955618 Size: SH
  1. Install the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) to the gearshift lever (2).
  2. Align the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) to the gearshift lever (2).
  3. Apply pressure to the top of the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) to engage into the gearshift lever (2).

    4. Object Number: 1957009 Size: SH
  4. Install the gearshift lever boot to front console retaining screws (2).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement.
