Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.

  2. Object Number: 1958091  Size: SH

    Important: Use a six-point socket to remove the oil filter cap (1).

  3. Remove the oil filter adapter cap (1) from the engine oil filter adapter (3).
  4. Important: The oil filter cartridge (2) must be replaced at every service interval.

  5. Remove the oil filter cartridge (2).
  6. Discard the oil filter cartridge (2).

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  9. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).
  10. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).
  11. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the oil pan drain plug (1) to the oil pan (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to General Repair Instructions in the Preface section.

  5. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.

  6. Object Number: 1958091  Size: SH
  7. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).
  8. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to General Repair Instructions in the Preface section.

    Important: Use a six-point socket to install the oil filter cap.

  9. Install the oil filter cap (1) to the engine oil filter adapter (3).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cap to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations and Approximate Fluid Capacities .
  12. Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders .
