The object detection park assist switch allows the driver to enable or disable the park assist system. The park assist switch is supplied voltage from the object alarm module. When the park assist system is enabled low reference is provided to the switch activating the park assist system.

The object alarm module detects a malfunction with the park assist switch.

Park brake OFF, transmission in REVERSE, using the park assist switch enable and disable the park assist system. Verify the park assist system enables and disables respectively.

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the park assist switch.
2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.

⇒	If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the park assist switch.

3. Ignition ON, transmission in REVERSE, test for 4.0 - 6.0 V between the voltage reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.

⇒	If greater than the specified range, test the voltage reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.

⇒	If less than the specified range, test the voltage reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.

4. If the circuit tests normal, replace the park assist switch.

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
