Theft Deterrent Module Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1958113  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
  7. Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.

  8. Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
  9. Remove the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).

  10. Object Number: 1958114  Size: SH
  11. Remove the TDM (1) from the steering column assembly (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1958114  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure the locating pin on the steering column assembly (2) is aligned with the TDM (1).

  1. Install the TDM (1) to the steering column assembly (2).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1958113  Size: SH
  3. Install the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).

    Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.

  5. Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
  6. Connect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
  7. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement.
  8. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  10. Program the TDM. Refer to Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup.

Theft Deterrent Module Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 1958105  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
  7. Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket counter-clockwise to disengage the locking tangs and pull to detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM.

  8. Detach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) from the TDM (1).
  9. Remove the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).

  10. Object Number: 1958110  Size: SH
  11. Remove the TDM (1) from the steering column assembly (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1958110  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure the locating pin on the steering column assembly (2) is aligned with the TDM (1).

  1. Install the TDM (1) to the steering column assembly (2).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1958105  Size: SH
  3. Install the TDM to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

    Important: Rotate the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket clockwise to engage the locking tangs and attach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) to the TDM.

  5. Attach the ignition lock cylinder lamp socket (2) to the TDM (1).
  6. Connect the theft deterrent module (TDM) electrical connector (4).
  7. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  8. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  10. Program the TDM. Refer to Theft Deterrent Control Module Programming and Setup .
