Tools Required

    • AU-338 Fuel Pressure Gauge.
    • AU-453 Fuel Pressure Test Hose Adapter.

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. The towel will absorb any fuel leakage that occurs during the connection of the fuel pressure gage. Place the towel in an approved container when the connection of the fuel pressure gage is complete.

    Notice: Clean all of the following areas before performing any disconnections in order to avoid possible contamination in the system:

       • The fuel pipe connections
       • The hose connections
       • The areas surrounding the connections

  1. Remove the engine covers. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1949812  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fuel pressure service connection dust cap from the fuel rail.
  4. Connect the AU-453  (1) fuel pressure test hose adapter to the fuel pressure connection. Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the AU-453  (1) in order to avoid spillage.
  5. Connect the AU-338  (2) fuel pressure gauge to the AU-453  (1). Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gauge in order to avoid spillage.
  6. Turn ON the ignition.
  7. Caution: Do not drain the fuel into an open container. Never store the fuel in an open container due to the possibility of a fire or an explosion.

  8. Place the bleed hose of the fuel pressure gauge into a suitable container.
  9. Open the bleed valve on the fuel pressure gauge in order to bleed the air from the fuel pressure gauge.
  10. Command the fuel pump ON with a scan tool.
  11. Close the bleed valve on the fuel pressure gauge.
  12. Inspect for fuel leaks.

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Command the fuel pump OFF with the scan tool.
  3. Open the bleed valve on the fuel pressure gauge in order to bleed the remaining fuel from the fuel pressure gauge.
  4. Remove the bleed hose from the fuel pressure gauge.

  5. Object Number: 1949812  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the AU-338  (2) fuel pressure gauge from the AU-453  (1). Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the gauge in order to avoid spillage.
  7. Disconnect the AU-453  (1) fuel pressure test hose adapter to the fuel pressure connection. Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting the AU-453  (1) in order to avoid spillage.
  8. Install the fuel pressure service connection dust cap to the fuel rail.
  9. Install the engine covers. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
