    • EL-49310 TPMS Activation and Test Tool.

Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Replacement

If the RFA is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:

    Important: When the RFA is programmed via the service programming system (SPS) the remote key and TPMS pressure sensor data will be erased. Remote keys and TPMS pressure sensors (where installed) must be programmed whenever a RFA is replaced.

  1. RFA reprogramming - Refer to Service Programming System (SPS).
  2. Select Body.
  3. Select RFA (Remote Function Actuator).
  4. Select Programming.
  5. Important: Performing the Erase All and Program Remotes procedure is prohibited without TIS approval. Refer to Obtaining TIS Approval for more information.

    Important: Remote keys must be programmed to the RFA. Remote keys can be reused, a maximum of 4 remote keys may be reprogrammed.

  6. Select Erase All and Program Remotes.
  7. Obtain TIS approval then repeat steps 1-5.
  8. Important: The scan tool must stay connected until all of the remote keys are programmed.

  9. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one remote key. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the remote key is programmed.
  10. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 remote keys.
  11. Important: The following procedures are only required on vehicles where the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is installed.

  12. Select Tire Type/Pressure selection.
  13. Select TPM Learn mode.
  14. Activate each TPMS pressure sensor in the order displayed on the scan tool display and follow the instructions below:
  15. Important: To program each TPMS pressure sensor ID into the RFA and/or to activate a sensor, the mandatory TPMS Activation and Test Tool EL-47826 or EL-49310 is required.

    Important: For this vehicle, the TPMS Activation and Test Tool LED and audible tone do not operate during the program procedure, activation of each TPMS pressure sensor is confirmed using the scan tool.

  16. Hold the Activation and Test Tool EL-47826 or EL-49310 against the tyre sidewall, with the end of the tool at the valve location and perpendicular to the tyre wall.
  17. Press the activation button once, then release. This begins the sensor activation process.
  18. Following activation of each TPMS pressure sensor, the vehicle horn will sound, the indicators will flash once and confirmation will be displayed on the scan tool display.

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the proceeding procedures.
