DTC Descriptors

DTC P0219: Engine Over speed Condition

Circuit/System Description

This DTC is used to indicate that the engine speed exceeded the fuel cutoff limit in gear. This DTC may set if the transmission is placed in a low gear while driving down a steep grade or traveling at a high speed.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The DTC is valid for manual transmissions only.
    • The engine is running.
    • Ignition voltage is between 10-18 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects the engine speed is greater than 7,200 RPM for greater than 1 second.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P0219 is a type A DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P0219 is a type A DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

An over speed condition can only exist when a low gear on a manual transmission is selected and the vehicle is travelling at high road speed. This DTC cannot be set by free revving the engine.
