Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, While observing the scan tool depress and release the clutch pedal, the scan tool display display should toggle between Inactive to Active when the pedal is depressed.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the Clutch pedal switch at the switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminate between the signal terminal and a known ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If circuit tests normal replace the ECM.
  4. Connect a 10A fusible link wire between the signal circuit and the earth terminal at the wiring harness connection.
  5. observe the scan tool active should be displayed.
If the display still reads inactive, test the earth circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. If all circuits test normal replace the clutch switch.
