Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1375162 Size: SH
  1. Relieve the pressure in the coolant reservoir by turning the coolant reservoir cap slightly counterclockwise.

    2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Disconnect the negative battery.

    3. Object Number: 1375163 Size: SH
  3. Remove the variable intake system (VIS) vacuum tank. Refer to Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Vacuum Reservoir Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 1375165 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector.
  5. Remove the ECT sensor from the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1375166 Size: SH
  1. Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with sealer.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the ECT sensor.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Connect the ECT connector.

    4. Object Number: 1375175 Size: SH
  4. Install the VIS vacuum tank. Refer to Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Vacuum Reservoir Replacement .

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the VIS vacuum tank retaining bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Fill the coolant system.
