KM-470-B Angular Torque Gage

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1758495  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine beautification cover.
  3. Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs.
  4. Disconnect the breather hose and PCV hose from the cylinder head cover.

  6. Remove the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1758524  Size: SH

    Important: Handle the camsafts carefully to prevent nicks or scratches.

  8. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  9. While holding the intake camshaft firmly in place, remove the intake camshaft gear bolt.
  10. Remove the intake camshaft gear.
  11. While holding the exhaust camshaft firmly in place, remove the exhaust camshaft gear bolt.
  12. Remove the exhaust camshaft gear.
  13. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the CMP sensor.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft position sensor bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

    Important: Handle the camsafts carefully to prevent nicks or scratches.

  3. Install the intake camshaft gear.
  4. While holding the intake camshaft firmly in place, install a new intake camshaft gear bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the intake camshaft gear bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) plus 60 degrees and 15 degrees using KM-470-B .

  6. Install the exhaust camshaft gear.
  7. While holding the exhaust camshaft firmly in place, install a new exhaust camshaft gear bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust camshaft gear bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) plus 60 degrees and 15 degrees using KM-470-B .

  9. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  10. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the corners of the front camshaft caps and to the top of the rear cylinder head cover-to-cylinder head seal.
  11. Install the camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  13. Connect the breather hose and PCV hose to the cylinder head cover.
  14. Connect the ignition wires to the spark plugs.
  15. Install the engine beautification cover.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the engine beautification cover bolts and nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
