DTC Descriptor

DTC B008A 00: High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 2

DTC B008B 00: High Voltage Crash Impact Detection Sensor 3

Circuit/System Description

The high voltage crash impact detector (HVCID) utilizes a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. The HVCID modulates current on the interface to send ID, state of health, and deployment commands to the serial data gateway module (SDGM). The SDGM serves as a power source and a ground for the HVCID. When the ignition is turned ON and input power from the SDGM is first detected, the HVCID responds by performing internal diagnostics and sending an ID to the SDGM. The HVCID continually communicates status messages to the SDGM. Some applications use multiple HVCID sensors.

This vehicle does not use crash sensor 2 or 3. These DTCs can only set if the incorrect software is installed in the SDGM.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The ignition is ON.
    • The battery voltage is 7.5-18 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B008A 00 or B008B 00

Sensor 2 or 3 is reporting a state-of-health message, but the SDGM is not calibrated to use sensor 2 or 3.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTCs B008A and B008B are type C DTCs.
