Removal Procedure
- Ensure that the park brake is released.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- If vehicle is a 1500 series with the first design cable, perform the following:
- If vehicle is a 1500 series with the second design or a 2500 series, perform the following:
- Disconnect the intermediate cable from the front cable.
- Remove the intermediate cable.
| 3.1. | Relieve tension on the park brake cables by pulling down on the front park brake cable (1) just in front of the equalizer. |
| 3.2. | Remove the park brake cables (2, 3) from the equalizer bar. |
| 4.1. | Remove the nut from the threaded end of the intermediate cable. |
| 4.2. | Disconnect the equalizer from the rear park brake cables. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the intermediate cable.
- Connect the intermediate cable to the front cable.
- Connect the equalizer to the rear park brake cables.
- If vehicle is a 1500 series with the second design or a 2500 series, install the nut to the threaded end of the intermediate cable and just remove all slack from the cable.
- If vehicle is a 1500 series with the first design cable, install the brake cables (2, 3) to the equalizer
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
