Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 858212  Size: SH
  1. Remove the spark plug wire. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
  2. Loosen the spark plug 1 or 2 turns.
  3. Brush or using compressed air, blow away any dirt from around the spark plug.
  4. Remove the spark plug. If removing more than one plug, place each plug in a tray marked with the corresponding cylinder.

Installation Procedure

  1. Correctly position the spark plug washer.
  2. Inspect the spark plug gap. Adjust the gap as needed.
  3. Specification
    Spark plug gap: 1.524 mm (0.060 in)

  4. Hand start the spark plug in the corresponding cylinder.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the spark plug.
  7. Tighten

        • Tighten the plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft) for USED heads.
        • Tighten the plug to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) for NEW heads.
  8. Install the spark plug wire. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
