For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Replace the torque converter if any of the following conditions exist:
  2. • Pump damage
    • Metal particles found after flushing the cooler and the cooler pipes
    • External leaks in the hub weld area
    • Converter pilot cup damage or poor fit in the crankshaft
    • Converter hub damage or scoring
    • Internal stator damage
    • Engine coolant contamination
  3. Do not replace the torque converter if the following conditions exist:
  4. • The fluid has an odor or is discolored, but with no metal particles
    • No external damage
    • Converter bolt thread damage. Refer to Thread Repair in Engine Mechanical for standard thread repair procedures.
