Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 344922 Size: SH

Important: Note the orientation of the power steering solenoid actuator discharge fitting.

  1. Lubricate and install the new O-ring seal with power steering fluid.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering fitting and actuator (1) to the pump.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the power steering solenoid actuator to 62 N·m (46 lb ft).

Important: If a new power steering solenoid actuator (1) is being installed, position the electrical connector before installing the retaining ring (2).

  5. Install the electrical connector to the power steering solenoid actuator.
  6. Install the retaining ring (2) to the actuator (1).

  7. Object Number: 245326 Size: SH
  8. Install the power steering pump (1) to the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement in Power Steering System.
