Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the park lamps and the fog lamps.
  2. Turn OFF the fog lamps.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Turn the headlamps ON then OFF.

Do the exterior lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Park Lamps Inoperative

Are the fog lamps on with the parking lamps off?

Go to Step 5

Remove the FOG LP relay.

Are the fog lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 13

  1. Turn ON the headlamps.
  2. Disconnect the body control module (BCM).

Are the fog lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 12

Connect a test lamp between the front fog lamp switch signal circuit of the BCM and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the front fog lamp switch signal circuit of the front fog lamp relay for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fog lamp relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fog lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to ground in the fog lamp relay control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the FOG LP relay.

Replace the fog lamp switch. Refer to Fog Lamp and Cargo Lamp Switch Assembly Replacement .

Turn OFF and then ON the rear fog lamps.

Does the system operate normally?

Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connector.

Are the rear fog lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Remove the RR FOG LP relay.

Are the rear fog lamps illuminated?

Test the rear fog lamps relay control circuit of the rear fog lamp relay for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

Connect a test lamp between the rear fog lamp switch signal circuit of the BCM and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Test the rear fog lamp switch signal circuit of the rear fog lamp switch for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.
