Some customers may comment that their inside rearview mirror (RPO DF5), which is an electro chromic (light-sensitive, auto-dimming) with an 8-point compass and outside temperature indicator may go dark or not function properly. It should be noted that there is a light sensor on the backside of this mirror and if this sensor is blocked by a hanging tag ( e.g parking permit, etc.) on the wire bundle going from the headliner to the mirror, this obstruction could cause the mirror sensor to malfunction. Please advise dealers/customers of this potential condition.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
