  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.

Does the radio operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the radio.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Test the accessory voltage circuit, also known as the RAP fuse supply voltage circuits, of the radio for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the battery positive voltage circuits of the radio for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the radio for high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the entertainment and comfort serial data circuit of the radio for a short. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
