Fuel Tank Draining Cab/Chassis

  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  2. Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  3. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel filler pipe as possible.

Fuel Tank Draining Front Tank

    Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Loosen the fuel filler cap in order to relieve the fuel tank vapor pressure.
  3. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the rear fuel tank through the fuel filler pipe as possible.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Loosen the rear tank to front tank fuel fill hose clamp (1).
  6. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (2) from the front fuel tank.
  7. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the front fuel tank through the fuel fill hose nipple as possible.

Fuel Tank Draining Rear Tank

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel filler pipe as possible.
