The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Comments are being received from some customers regarding the brake pedal travel or brake pedal feel on some General Motors trucks and utilities. A review of these customers vehicles by engineering, found that the brake system contained a small quantity of air, which increased pedal travel and softened the pedal feel.

Before replacing any components, verify the brake pedal travel by using the appropriate "Brake Pedal Travel Measurement and Inspection" procedure in SI. If brake pedal travel exceeds the specification, bleed the brakes following the appropriate procedure, found in SI.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
