DTC C0561 75: System Disabled Information Stored Signal Above Allowable Range

Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) receives serial data messages from other modules which are needed to perform antilock brake system (ABS), vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES), or traction control system (TCS) functions.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • Ignition ON.
    • Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The EBCM receives an invalid serial data message from another module which causes EBCM to deactivate ABS, VSES, TCS, etc.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables the antilock brake system (ABS), traction control and the vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
    • It may take 2 ignition cycles to clear this DTC.
    • The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

C0561 4B

    • One or more of the module learn steps was not performed or failed during component replacement.
⇒Using the EBCM Relearn function under Module Setup, learn the module.
⇒Using the failure responses from the Tech 2 diagnose any learn problems.

C0561 54

    • If the code is only in History, no diagnosis is necessary. Ask the driver if they’ve been engaged in lengthy wheel spin events.
    • If the code is current, lightly apply and release the brake pedal, then turn off the ignition. Wait 15 minutes before restarting the vehicle. If the code is still current replace the module.

C0561 71

    • Use Tech 2 Enhanced Diagnostics Data screen to determine which module is transmitting the invalid signal.
       ⇒Diagnose the transmitting module.

C0561 72

    • If this fault occurs with U1843 in the ECM diagnose the GMLAN wiring between the EBCM and the ECM for an intermittent condition.
⇒If the fault persists diagnose the power and ground lines to the ECM and EBCM for an intermittent condition.
    • If this fault occurs without U1843 in the ECM, diagnose the EBCM to IMU power wiring and GMLAN wiring between the EBCM and the IMU for an intermittent condition.

C0561 74

    • Diagnose the Powertrain Expansion Bus for an intermittent condition.
    • Diagnose the ECM for the source of the problem.

C0561 75

    • The Engine Speed or Transfer Case data is out of Range.
⇒Diagnose the HS GMLAN bus for an intermittent condition.
⇒Diagnose the ECM if engine speed is improperly reported.
⇒Diagnose the TCCM module if so equipped.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Refer to Diagnostics Aids
  2. Refer to appropriate module for diagnosing the invalid message data.
  3. Do not replace the EBCM due to this DTC fault.
