For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Closely inspect each tire for proper and even bead seating.
  3. If any of the tire beads were not properly or evenly seated, reseat the tire bead, then proceed to step 4. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Place a fixed object, such as a jack stand, at the front of the tire close to the tread. Position the top of the jack stand close to the tread.
  5. Slowly rotate the tire and wheel assembly one complete revolution and observe the average amount of radial runout.
  6. Place a fixed object, such as a jack stand, at the side of the tire close to the sidewall. Position the top of the jack stand close to the sidewall.
  7. Slowly rotate the tire and wheel assembly one more complete revolution and observe the amount of lateral runout. Ignore any jumps or dips due to sidewall splices and observe an average lateral runout measurement.
  8. Repeat steps 4 through 8 until all of the tire and wheel assembly radial and lateral runout measurements have been taken.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
